Honda Insight Hybrid: Highest Efficiency
Highway: sixty-six miles to the gallon.
City: sixty miles to the gallon.
The Honda hybrid is top of the class with the highest fuel efficient in the United States. It has an electric motor with a 1.0 gas engine, the Insight has low resistance tires to add to its efficiency. Until Solazyme becomes a viable alternative, the Honda Insight Hybrid is the most efficient car around.
Hyundai Sonata: Most efficient Big Car
Highway: thirty four miles to the gallon.
City: twenty four miles to the gallon.
Large cars aren’t known for their fuel efficiency, but the Hyundai Sonata does a great job. Hyundai haven’t had the best reputation in the past but they are certainly heading the field in this division.
Toyota Prius Hybrid: Most Efficient Medium Size Car
Highway: sixty miles to the gallon.
City: fifty-one miles to the gallon.
(60 mpg city and 51 mpg highway)
The Prius is larger than the Honda Insight, so not quite as efficient overall but can carry more people (much more efficient than two vehicles when it’s full). The Prius is also more powerful with a 110 HP engine. The Prius is also more visually appealing. So if you want to be efficient and stylish until Solazyme comes along, choose a Prius.
Honda Civic Hybrid: Compact Car with Highest Efficiency
(49 mpg city and 51 mpg highway)
Highway: fifty one miles to the gallon.
City: forty-nine o the gallon.
The big selling point with the Honda Civic is its price: cheaper than any other hybrid car. It is just as powerful as the Prius so is a good alternative for those on a budget.
So make sure you are fuel efficient now, there’s no need to wait until Solazyme is available.
